Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Introduction/purpose Cirrhotic cardiomyopathy is characterized by high cardiac output, reduced peripheral resistance and diastolic dysfunction has been correlated with cirrhosis severity prognosis. Global longitudinal strain (GLS) a sensitive marker which considered relatively independent preload afterload conditions thus may be diagnostic significance in this special population. We sought to investigate alterations GLS relating disease cirrhotic patients. Methods Echocardiographic analysis 51 consecutive patients was performed. Images were acquired analyzed off-line. calculated semi-automatic way using dedicated software. Clinical biochemical examination used assess liver calculating Child-Pugh class (class C have more severe than B A patients) MELD-Na score (increased as the progresses). Results Mean age 58.4 ± 8.7 years, 38 (74.5%) males. Among patients, 22 (43.1%) A, 17 (33.3%) 12 (23.5%) mean 15.3 7.5. left ventricular end-systolic volume (LVEDV) 117 29ml, stroke (SV) 72.5 19.9ml , ejection fraction (LVEF) 61.0 5.0%, systolic blood pressure (SBP) 128 13mmHg, ratio peak transmitral annular (septal) velocity during early diastole (E/e’ ratio) 10.4 4.5, atrial index (LAVI) 37.4 11.8 ml/cm2 -21.6 2.6%. (-20.3 2.4) higher (less negative) (-22.2 2.2) (-23.0 2.8) Difference between groups non-significant (figure). Severity determined LAVI (r = 0.592, p < 0.001), SV 0.554, (r=-0.441, 0.001) LVEDV 0.428, 0.002). (r=-0.369, 0.008) but not (LVEDV), or (SBP). In linear regression model, independently associated Meld-Na when adjusting for age, SBP, NASH etiology [B=-0.139 (-0.252; -0.025), 0.018]. Endocrine-Manifestations of Cirrhosis and Liver Disease
The liver is involved in the synthesis and metabolism of many kinds of hormones, various abnormalities hormone levels are found in advanced liver disease. For example the liver is, extremely sensitive to changes in insulin or glucagon levels. The liver is the primary organ of iron storage is frequently involved, diabetes is common in patients with iron overload and may be seen in cirrhosis. Chr...
متن کاملThe Lipid Profile Parameter in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients and Correlation with Severity of Disease
Introduction: More than 90% of the deaths caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) occur in the low- and middle -income countries. The main aim of this study was to investigate the lipid profile levels in COPD patients and examine the correlation of total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoproteins, high density lipoproteins, and LDL/HDL risk ratio with COPD stages that a...
متن کاملCorrelation between global longitudinal peak systolic strain and coronary artery disease severity as assessed by the angiographically derived SYNTAX score
BACKGROUND In this study, we investigate the correlation between reduced global longitudinal peak systolic strain (GLPSS) and the SYNTAX score (SS) in patients undergoing coronary angiography. METHODS We examined 71 patients undergoing both echocardiogram and coronary angiography within 15 days. All patients had normal global and/or regional wall motion on resting echocardiogram. We calculate...
متن کاملCorrelation of serum liver fibrosis markers with severity of liver dysfunction in liver cirrhosis: a retrospective cross-sectional study.
Hyaluronic acid (HA), laminin (LN), amino-terminal pro-peptide of type III pro-collagen (PIIINP), and collagen IV (CIV) are four major serum markers of liver fibrosis. This retrospective cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the correlations of the four serum markers with the severity of liver dysfunction in cirrhotic patients. Between January 2013 and June 2014, a total of 228 patients with ...
متن کاملSeverity Assessment of Chronic Liver Disease in Children
Introduction: Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis are the most important causes of growth failure, morbidity and mortality in children. Cirrhosis consists of a variety of congenital, genetic, metabolic, and infectious causes in children. Models for predicting of chronic liver disease severity, survival, and transplantation are useful for decision-making as well as medical interventions. The mo...
